Pepsi Advertising, What a Difference a Year Makes

About a year ago, prototype artwork for "Pepsi Throwback" and "Mountain Dew Throwback" were released online.  They were awesome looking, and "Made With Real Sugar!"  See below:

The design was changed before the final product was released, which can be seen here:

Note the "Natural Sugar" label instead of "Real Sugar."  Most people thought this was done so that consumers wouldn't think "wait, if this has real sugar in it, what does regular Pepsi have?"

This makes sense, but then again these companies like to say that HFCS is "natural" so then why isn't the "natural sugar" label on regular Pepsi too?  Whatever.

Recently they re-released Pepsi Throwback, with a HUGE ad campaign airing during the NFL playoffs.  Mountain Dew Throwback is back as well.  You can read tons of websites about how these drinks taste, like bev review linked above, but that's not what I care about (though it does taste awesome).

What I'm interested in, is this:

Pepsi Throwback 2010

(sorry for the crappy webcam pic)

Not only does it go back to the "Real Sugar" tagline, it highlights the word "Real" with a different color.  Oh, and it looks better than the Coca-Cola style blue font from before.  Nice.

Couple this with stevia (a natural alternative to sugar that is hundreds of times sweeter, and hence lower calorie) that is now legal because of lobbying from big soda companies, and the corn lobbyists must be starting to sweat...
